Antique Copper Stockpot Faitout Pan New Tin 22cm 8 5/8" French Copper Marmite Pot Refurbished Quality Villedieu Pan 1.5mm

The tin is new, 100% pure hand wiped tin, the inside has some wipe marks, a little flow and some slight pooling in the corners, it is all there and ready to go.

The handles are fixed securely with three copper rivets. The lid has a very slightly wavy edge from years of use and cleaning. It fits beautifully. There are some minor dents, there are hammer marks and signs of manufacture on the body - a truly authentic piece.

The handles are good and firm. There are manufacturing hammer marks on the body. This is a special, good looking copper 'Faitout' - this is a term coined in the early 1800s for a domestic pot that 'does it all' in a domestic setting. The family would have had one copper pot, a real luxury, and this would have been used for almost all their daily dishes.

This lovely old pan has been refurbished sympathetically to ensure that it remains authentic but totally ready for work.

This is all solid copper - the handles are cast bronze - real old-fashioned quality.

It weighs 3.0 kilos 6lbs 10 ozs. It is 1.5mm solid copper with a tin lining.
